We’re thrilled to share some exciting news — MRWN has received multiple nominations for the 2026 Macedon Ranges Community Awards in the Contribution to the Environment category!
The Macedon Ranges Community Awards are run by Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) and celebrate the inspiring individuals, groups, and initiatives that make an outstanding contribution to community life across the shire. Now in their second year following a successful 2025 program, the awards shine a light on local people whose passion, dedication and service help strengthen, connect and inspire the communities they call home.
Mayor Kate Kendall captured the spirit of the awards perfectly: “Across the Macedon Ranges, there are so many people who quietly and consistently give their time, energy and knowledge to support others. These awards are a chance to recognise the efforts of our local everyday heroes, and give them the recognition they deserve, as they make our community the wonderful place to live that it is.”
To receive not one but multiple nominations is a genuine honour, and a reflection of the hard work and commitment of everyone involved with MRWN. Environmental work so often happens behind the scenes — in the bush, at the creek bank, on weekends and after hours — so recognition like this means a great deal to our volunteers and supporters.
Award recipients will be announced during National Volunteer Week in May. Fingers crossed!
