MRWN’s Foundations of Macropod Rescue Training with renowned macropod rescuer Manfred Zabinskas was an incredible day for macropod rescue and care in the Macedon Ranges and beyond — helping to address the growing tragedy of wildlife roadstrike.
A full day of hands-on learning saw 40 enthusiastic participants gain the skills and confidence to respond to kangaroo and wallaby rescues. Each participant received:
A comprehensive training manual to reference long after the day
A fully equipped Macropod Rescue Kit, giving new rescuers the tools to get started
A custom MRWN branded bag, lovingly filled with handmade pouches from the amazing crafters at STAR — Craft for Australian Wildlife Carers and our own talented MRWN members @Rebecca Rixon and @Soo Yeon.
It was a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge, build connections, and strengthen our network of rescuers ready to make a difference for our native wildlife.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported this event — your dedication helps ensure our precious and unique wildlife get the care and protection they deserve.
Shout out also to Lancefield Mechanics Institute for supplying an urn at the last minute.
