In Care: Orphaned Joey

This little kangaroo came into care 3 hours ago, after losing her mum to Phalaris toxicity, a devastating condition caused by non-native pasture weeds.

Phalaris poisoning affects the nervous system and sadly has no cure. In this case, the kindest option was humane euthanasia.

Thanks to a fast response from our rescue team and carers, her joey is safe, warm, and receiving expert care and luckily not left out in the winter cold.

Please help protect native wildlife by managing invasive weeds on your property – and if you see a kangaroo behaving oddly (staggering, falling, head tremors), call Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300.
