- About Us
MRWN is an incorporated not-for-profit formed to support wildlife rescue efforts, share knowledge, and assist carers and shelters across the region. Our members include Wildlife Victoria-registered rescuers, licensed carers, and wildlife advocates from all walks of life. Together, we strive to respond swiftly to animals in need and build a community that values and protects native fauna.
MRWN's Purpose
- to provide for the rescue and rehabilitation of native wildlife in the Macedon Ranges Shire and surrounding areas; and
- to provide information and promote community education and awareness of native wildlife and its environmental needs in the Macedon Ranges Shire and surrounding districts.
What we do
MRWN is powered by a dedicated team of active members working both on the front lines and behind the scenes to support local wildlife and grow our network. Our members contribute by organizing fundraising events, writing grant applications, and securing vital resources to sustain our work.
Members also manage community education programs, outreach events, and online communications — helping to promote awareness and foster coexistence with wildlife. Together, these efforts strengthen MRWN, ensuring we remain a supportive, sustainable, and effective network for both wildlife and the people who care for them.
Emergency response
Our Members include experienced, DEECA-authorised shelter operators, foster carers, and volunteers who provide short- and long-term care for injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife.
Community Education
MRWN can offer school visits, workshops, and community events designed to increase awareness and equip locals with practical tools to support wildlife.
Rehabilitation & Release
Our network supports a range of licensed carers that prepare wildlife for safe return to their natural environment.
Governance and Structure
Our Committee, elected annually by members, oversees the governance and strategic direction of MRWN. We are a registered association with public liability insurance, ensuring accountability and professional standards in all our operations.
