The Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network is grateful for the ongoing support of volunteers, Hanging Rock Park Rangers, Macedon Ranges Shire Council, and our collaboration with Kangaroos Alive, whose shared commitment helps make these events possible. By fostering understanding and appreciation of our native wildlife, the Kangaroo Walk and Talk contributes to the Network’s vision of creating a safer and more sustainable future for wildlife across the Macedon Ranges.
Set within the spectacular landscape of Hanging Rock, participants enjoy a guided walk while learning about kangaroo behaviour, social structures, habitat requirements, and the challenges facing wildlife across the Macedon Ranges. The relaxed “walk-and-talk” format encourages discussion and provides opportunities for participants to ask questions, share observations, and gain a greater understanding of how communities can coexist with native wildlife.
The event also highlights broader wildlife conservation issues, including habitat protection, wildlife-friendly fencing, road safety, and the importance of maintaining wildlife corridors throughout the region. Through education and awareness, the Walk and Talk aims to build a stronger connection between people and wildlife while empowering community members to become active participants in local conservation efforts.
