Our volunteers give their time, their hearts, and their own money. Your donation ensures they can continue to answer the call for animals in need.

When a kangaroo is found injured on the roadside, a possum is orphaned, or a wombat is in distress, our dedicated volunteers are the ones who answer the call. They are the heart and soul of the Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network (MRWN), on the front lines 24/7 to rescue, transport, and care for our precious local wildlife.

But this incredible dedication comes at a significant personal cost.

The Hidden Cost of Saving a Life

Our network is run entirely by volunteers, and they pay for most critical expenses directly from their own pockets. The emotional toll of this work is immense, but the financial burden can be just as heavy.

Our volunteers aren’t just giving their time; they are personally funding the mission. Based on our own guidelines and the experiences of carers across Australia, every single rescue has out-of-pocket costs.

Your generous donation doesn’t go to administrative overhead. It goes directly towards reimbursing our volunteers for the essential, out-of-pocket expenses they incur while saving lives. You are helping to keep our rescuers on the road and our carers equipped for the animals who depend on them.

Petrol & Vehicle Costs

Fuelling a rescuer’s car to get to an injured animal, often in remote locations and at all hours of the day and night.

Specialised Animal Food

Purchasing high-cost milk formula for orphaned joeys and wombats, or specific foods for birds and reptiles in recovery. Formula alone is a huge expense for carers.

Medical Supplies & Vet Bills

Covering costs for medications, bandages, supplements, and veterinary treatments that give an animal a fighting chance.

Enclosures & Bedding

Providing the safe, warm, and clean housing essential for rehabilitation, including cages, heating pads, and sanitising supplies.

Essential Rescue Equipment

Maintaining the gear our volunteers need in the field, from nets and pouches to phones for coordinating rescues.
